Homemade Dog Treats Recipes

Dog’s love a special Treat, and they deserve yummy homemade dog treats.

 

Pumpkin Carrot Bites – Holiday Dog Treat Recipe

Ingredients:

3/4 cup canned pumpkin (get the kind that has ONLY pumpkin in it)

1 egg, slightly beaten

1/4 cup shredded carrots

1 cup whole wheat flour 

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 

Stir pumpkin, egg, carrots and flour in a large bowl until moistened. 

Roll the batter into small balls and place on a baking sheet. 

Bake for 30 – 35 minutes. 

Recipe yields approximately four dozen Pumpkin Carrot Bites. Store in an air- tight container in the refrigerator for about two week, freezer up to two months. 

Peanut Butter Dog Treat

Ingredients:

1 Cup mashed sweet potatoes

1 Cup Whole Wheat Flour

1/2 Cup peanut butter

Directions:

 Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

 Stir peanut butter and mashed sweet potatoes together until well combined.

 Add 1/4 C of flour, stirring as you add. Mix well.

 Form a ball out of the dough.

 Toss some flour on a flat surface and on the rolling pin, then roll out the dough with the rolling pin to your desired  thickness.

 Use a bone-shaped or any dog theme cookie cutter to cut out the treats.

 Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

 Cool slightly on the cookie sheet, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

 Store in an air- tight container in the refrigerator for about two week, freezer up to two months.

Bone Treats

Ingredients:

4 cups of flour

2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese

2 tbsp-1/4 cup of oil

1 1/3 cups of water

Directions:

Combine flour and cheese. Stir in oil and water. Adjust liquid as necessary to make stiff dough.

Roll on floured cutting board to 3/8″ thick. Cut with bone shaped cutter.

Placed on un-greased cookie sheet. Bake for 2 1/2 – 3 hours in 250 degrees oven until thoroughly dry.

Store in an air- tight container in the refrigerator for about two week, freezer up to two months.

Calming Dog Treats

Ingredients:

1 chamomile tea bag

1.5 cups of oat flour

1/3 cup of unsweetened, plain yogurt (with no Xylitol)

4 tablespoons, unsalted sunflower seeds

1/3 cup freeze dried strawberries chopped into small pieces

1 tablespoon honey

Directions:

In the large mixing bowl, combine the oat flour and sunflower seeds. Add contents of Chamomile tea bag  Add the yogurt, dried strawberries, and honey.

Mix the contents well.

Use your hands to knead the dough into a firm ball. Add a small amount of water, if necessary, to soften the dough.

Roll the dough out using the rolling pin to a thickness of around ¼ inch.

Cut out shapes using your cookie cutters

Apply parchment paper to the metal baking sheet, place the cutout shapes on the parchment paper.

Preheat the oven and bake for 2 to-30 minutes at 325 degrees F until firm.

Remove the dog treats from the oven and let them cool on the counter. They should harden a bit more as they cool.

Store in an air- tight container in the refrigerator for about two week, freezer up to two months.
