Valentine’s Day Dog Treat Recipes
Looking to make your dog feel extra special this Valentine’s Day? A Great way to treat your dog on Valentine’s Day is by making him or her some yummy dog treats.
Heart-Shaped Treats
Ingredients:
3 cups whole wheat flour or grain-free flour
1 cup pure pumpkin puree
3 tablespoons all natural peanut butter
2 eggs
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 F.
In a mixing bowl, combine eggs, pumpkin and peanut butter and whisk thoroughly.
Add liquid mixture to flour in a separate bowl and knead into dough.
Roll out dough using a roller until it’s about 1/2 inch thick.
Using a heart or bone-shaped cookie cutter, cut out the shapes from the prepared dough.
Stamp letters into your dough using a special letter press (optional).
Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Let cool for 15 minutes.
Peanut Butter and Raspberry Pupsicles
Ingredients:
1 Cup Peanut Butter
1 Cup Plain Yogurt
1 Pkg Fresh or Frozen Raspberries
1 Tablespoon Water Per Mold or Cup
Treat Sticks, or Dog Biscuits 1 Per Mold or Cup
Instructions:
Layer all ingredients, in the order listed, into your pupsicle mold. Or Dixie Cups. Stick your treat in last to serve as your “stick” so you can easily pull the pupsicle out of the mold later. Freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight. Store in the freezer up to 2 months.
Cranberry Hearts
Ingredients:
2 Eggs
1 1/2 Cups Almond Flour
1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil
3 Tablespoons Of Coconut Flour
1/2 Cup Dried Cranberries
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 165°C.
Beat 2 eggs and set aside.
Combine your almond flour, coconut oil, and dried cranberries together in a bowl.
Once combined, pour in the eggs and mix together with your hands. The dough will be very wet.
Begin adding in your coconut flour one tablespoon at a time, mixing in each one after it has been added. You want to achieve a consistency that is easy to roll and not super sticky. This will require between 3 tablespoons depending on your brand of flour and the size of your eggs. The dough should easily form a ball.
Roll out your dough and cut out the treats using bite-sized cookie cutters. Hearts are perfect for Valentine’s Day. Tip: Sprinkle a little coconut flour on top of your dough to keep it from sticking to the cookie cutters.
Place your treats on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the oven for 15-18 minutes or until crisp. Makes approximately 20 treats (dependent on the size of the cutter). Let cool before giving to your pooch.
Strawberry and Yogurt Dog Treat
1 cup (8oz) Plain Yogurt
15 Strawberries, Diced
Instructions:
In your dog treat mold or ice cube tray scatter in your strawberries.
Spoon over the yogurt, fill evenly and smooth the top.
Tap on the counter to ensure there are no air bubbles and the mixture is evenly distributed.
Freeze for a minimum of 5 hours.
To remove, tap on the counter to loosen then turn out. If you have any trouble, quickly run the mold under warm water to help the treats release then turn out. Store in the freezer up to 2 months.
Pooch Strawberry Smoothie
Ingredients:
Six Strawberries
One Banana
Instructions:
Remove the stems from the strawberries and rinse.
Peel the banana and cut into three pieces.
Put the banana and strawberries into the Blender
Blend until the consistency is smooth and free of any fruit chunks.
Pour the smoothie mixture into the heart shaped ice cube tray.
Freeze for a few hours.
